What happens when four contemporary artists and like-minded brands come together to create something? Well, we experience an exquisite blend of art, technology and design. Earlier this month, Art at Palladium, Art&Found and Meural came together, along with Muji and Pure Home & Living as partners, to launch a week-long exhibition at the atrium of Palladium Mall in Mumbai. The four artists – Aniruddh Mehta, Priyanka Shah, Hansika Sharma and Avinash Jai Singh – displayed their diverse works through four different zones. Atyaan Jungalwala was the set designer for the exhibit.
Art at Palladium is a concept wherein established/upcoming artists are given a platform to showcase their work. The concept also aims to bring art out of traditional art galleries into a more vibrant and dynamic venue, making art accessible to all.
Talking about their collaboration with us, Anmol Walia from The Phoenix Mills Ltd.’s marketing team says, “The theme for this show was unique where in the art was displayed through Meural – a digital canvas that blends art and technology in an unusual format. Meural is a gesture-controlled digital art frame giving access to innumerable artworks, from classic to conceptual and the unknown. These canvases have built-in motion sensors that are easy to install in any space and one can choose to upload their favorites from an extensive range of paintings. The exhibit at Palladium showcased the works of four artists. Each of their art pieces sent out a unique vibe and idea which included geometric minimal patterns, botanical elements, abstract ideas and alternate pop reality.”
“We are driven by the mission of bringing emerging art to more audience in an engaging, interactive way, and saw Art&Found’s efforts with this exhibition as the perfect way to support that mission.”
Art&Found’s association with Meural began in New York in late 2017, where Aditya Mehta, Founder CEO of Art&Found, met with Poppy Simpon, Head of Content and Curation at Meural and Sara Robertson, Senior Curator at Meural. Later, he also met with Jerry Hu, Co-founder and CRO at Meural, in Mumbai to strengthen their long-term partnership. Aditya feels that Meural was the perfect fit for this collaboration with Art at Palladium.
“We juxtaposed a tech product with visual art. And broke the norms of display by creating four different zones with home settings alongside the works by four artists who are completely different from each other.”
Meural has a curated collection containing tens of thousands of artworks by the top 16 global art companies and galleries like Magnum Photos, New York Public Art Library, Retronaut, Condé Nast and Art&Found.
When we asked Lauren McInnes, Public Relations Manager of Meural, to describe her experience about this association, she said, “When we met Aditya, we were incredibly impressed with the artworks from Art&Found, and the network of contemporary Indian artists he had gathered.” Lauren says that Meural team felt that their current audience would respond very well to Art&Found’s art catalogue and imagined that Indian audience would respond well to our technology product. “We are driven by the mission of bringing emerging art to more audience in an engaging, interactive way, and saw Art&Found’s efforts with this exhibition as the perfect way to support that mission.”
Meural– which features contemporary Indian art from Art&Found on its platform and has now introduced itself in India with this exhibition – is very excited to enter the Indian market. “India has such a rich and beautiful cultural history, and a great appreciation for both art and technology, so we see this as an amazing market for us. We’re excited to bring a wide selection of Indian art, as well as art from around the world, into the homes and public spaces of India.”
We couldn’t agree more with Lauren. India is indeed an exciting market, and we can’t wait to bring you many more such exciting collaborations and exhibitions.
